Sabelo Mkhaliphi
Sabelo Mkhaliphi, was born in Soweto Johannesburg (South Africa) in 1986, he explains how he came to be an artist:
My first experience as an artist was when I was in primary school doing grade 4. At that time I got an opportunity to be selected to attend an afternoon t class at Kopanong community center in Dobsenville Soweto.
It was here that I realised that I wanted to pursue my career in this field.
I believe that being an artist is something that one is born to do. I had most of my art study from my father who is also an artist. I went on to study through practical experience, learning through trial and error and self learning, studying the works of many artists that I seen on social media today.
I work primarily in oil, acrylic paints and collage, and I currently work from home in Soweto Johannesburg.
My work is focused on telling the African women life experiences.

In his latest work named the “Cityscape” series Sabelo shows African women experiencing everyday life. The reflections in their glasses give us an insight into their lives and environments. Those of us who have ever visited Johannesburg will also recognise scenes and iconic places from the city reflected in the glasses.
The pieces are created in combination of Oil painting, Acrylic and Collage.
The paintings we have available all are sized 160cm (H) x 120cm (W)
