Township life by Sabelo Mkhaliphi gives the viewer a glimpse of history through a young woman reflecting on Soweto’s past right behind the Hector Pieterson Memorial in Orlando.

An admiration of the beauty of the iconic Orlando tower’s that was originally the site of a coal fired power station that served Johannesburg for more than 50 years after World War 2.

Now it has been converted from being two unsightly cooling towers to being the site of some of the most fun and exhilarating adventure sport in the country.

The colourful attraction is a popular spot for a range of adventurous, adrenalin inducing activities. These include bungee jumping, abseiling, rock climbing, zip lining, pendulum swinging and paint balling.

Right behind the young woman is the Hector Pieterson Memorial and Museum. It commemorates the role of the country’s students in the struggle against apartheid and in particular the role played by the school children who took part in the Soweto protests of 1976, many of whom were shot by the apartheid police while protesting against the sub standard of education in black schools in south Africa.
