Danie Marais was born in Pretoria, South Africa, in 1978 and grew up mostly in Namibia. He studied art at the Central University of Technology in Bloemfontein and now resides in the Western Coast near Cape Town.
Danie is a full time artist, and his work comprises mainly still life, landscapes, portraits, figures, nature and wild life. he works with mixed mediums and his art is on display at several galleries throughout South Africa and Namibia.
The Painting you see here on the left is called “Motherhood” and was especially commissioned by Nwabisa African Art.
Danie has developed a unique style of working, in which he combines different materials and applies paint not only with brush…
When meeting with Danie recently at his home, he explained that there are “artists” trying to copy his work and style, which on the one hand is flattering, but on the other hand can lead to an art lover being deceived in getting a painting that is not a Danie Marais original.
Nwabisa African Art is happy and proud to work with Danie.
If you are interested in acquiring a Danie Marais original, please contact us. Please note that the painting you see here is even more beautiful in real life, it can be seen in our Gallery.

"Motherhood" by Danie Marais
On our recent visit to Danie, we were so privileged to be shown into Danie’s Studio. Danie explained that this was rare as he usually does not let anybody into his studio. We were also shown another amazing piece he is working on, which unfortunately we cannot show here. Danie is incredibly talented and we are sure you will fall in love with his work just as we did….contact us for more information, or to commission your own special Danie Marais original
Other work by Danie Marais
Danie Marais is a very talented artist. To give you an impression of other pieces he has created, we have this gallery of previous pieces of his. Danie only makes originals so he will not paint the same composition twice. However if there is something you like, we can work with you to have Danie come up with a new composition to your liking, thus creating a new and unique painting for you.
